(BRIENSBURG, Ky.) — History was made Tuesday night at Christian Fellowship as senior Elijah Grigg became a 3,000-point scorer, leading the Eagles to a 72-64 home victory over Trigg County.
Grigg, who has been a cornerstone of the Christian Fellowship program throughout his high school career, reached the milestone in front of the home crowd, adding another chapter to what has been a remarkable run for the Eagles senior. He finished the night with 21 points, going 5-of-9 on two-point attempts and 2-of-9 from three-point range, while adding 5-of-6 from the free throw line to go along with 7 rebounds.
Senior Daxton Kite was dominant in the paint, pouring in 16 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field and pulling down a team-high 8 rebounds. Samuel Grigg added 14 points, shooting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc and going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line, while chipping in 5 rebounds.
Jakin Burnett rounded out a balanced senior-led effort with 13 points, 2 assists and 7 rebounds, and sophomore Jake Burchett contributed 8 points on 4-of-7 shooting off the bench.
As a team, Christian Fellowship shot 45 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free throw line, converting 13-of-18 attempts at the charity stripe — a key factor in securing the eight-point win.
CFS is now 19-9 and will take on Fulton City at home Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
