(LYON COUNTY, KY) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has released details of numerous arrests and incidents that occurred during the first week of February, ranging from traffic accidents to domestic disturbances and weapons charges.

Ice Collision Highlights Winter Hazards

The week began Sunday, February 1, when Sheriff Brent White responded to an unusual collision on US 62 East in Eddyville around 12:20 p.m. A large chunk of snow and ice dislodged from the roof of a 2006 Ford F450 bus driven by Archie L. Hudson, 64, of Princeton, striking a 2017 GMC Yukon operated by Hannah Lowry, 33, of Bowling Green. No injuries were reported.

Multiple Warrant Arrests

Law enforcement officers executed several bench warrants throughout the week for individuals who failed to appear in court.

On Monday, February 2, Sheriff White arrested Joshua L. Williams, 43, of Cookeville, Tennessee, on a bench warrant after he failed to appear in Lyon Circuit Court earlier that day. Chief Deputy Sam Adams also arrested William M. McQuigg, Jr., 43, of Kuttawa, on a similar warrant. McQuigg later posted bond and was released.

The pattern continued throughout the week. Stephen M. Clark, 42, was arrested Wednesday evening at a business on US 62 East for failing to appear in a child support case. Heather D. Thornton, 46, of Kuttawa, was arrested at a residence on Joe Peek Road and served with two bench warrants related to drug cases.

DUI Arrest Following Parking Lot Incident

Deputy Bobby Beeler and Chief Deputy Adams responded to an unusual call Monday evening around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a complaint about a man urinating in a Kuttawa business parking lot. Upon arrival, they found Todd B. Santee, 53, of Kolomo, Indiana, passed out in his vehicle with the engine running. After administering field sobriety tests, Beeler arrested Santee on charges of DUI-first offense and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

Domestic Disturbance Leads to Dual Arrests

In one of the week’s most serious incidents, deputies responded to a “shots fired” complaint in the Palisades subdivision Tuesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. The investigation led to a residence in the 900 block of Palisades Drive, where what initially sounded like gunfire was actually the result of a vehicle collision during a domestic disturbance.

According to the report, a man collided with a woman’s vehicle in the driveway, and a physical altercation between the two continued into the residence until deputies arrived. Chief Deputy Adams arrested Kathy G. Pendley, 52, of Eddyville, while Deputy Beeler arrested Rafe A. Pendley, 53, also of Eddyville. Both were charged with fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) with minor injury.

The couple faced additional consequences Friday when both were served with probation violation warrants and remained in custody at the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Felon in Possession of Weapon Arrested

In the most recent incident, Deputy Josh Travis arrested Amanda K. Overbaugh, 36, of Kuttawa, early Saturday morning around 2:20 a.m. near a campground off KY 1055. The arrest followed a trespassing complaint and motorist assist call.

Overbaugh, who also goes by Amanda Rowlands, was found in possession of a handgun and ammunition. According to the Sheriff’s Office, she is prohibited from possessing firearms due to previous convictions for multiple burglary and methamphetamine-related offenses. She was out on bond at the time for an unrelated criminal trespassing charge at a construction site near Kuttawa.

Deputy Travis charged Overbaugh with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The Eddyville Police Department assisted with the arrest, and the investigation is ongoing.

Additional Incidents

Other incidents during the week included:

  • A parking lot collision Monday evening involving a 2020 International truck and a parked semi-truck at a Kuttawa business, with no injuries reported
  • Deputies charging Anthony La Bonte, 29, of Berea, with a Madison District Court bench warrant on Tuesday. La Bonte awaits extradition to Madison County for a 2019 contempt of court charge
