(MAYFIELD, Ky.) — Kentucky State Police Post 1 has welcomed two new troopers to its ranks following the graduation of 32 cadets from the KSP Training Academy on Thursday.

Troopers Ricky Damron of Williamsburg and Cameron Lindsey of Paducah were among the members of Cadet Class 106 who completed their training and will now serve the Post 1 district, which covers western Kentucky.

The graduation ceremony, held Thursday in Frankfort, marked the culmination of 24 weeks of rigorous training that began when the cadets reported to the academy on Aug. 10.

“Completing this academy requires grit, focus and an unwavering commitment to public service,” KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said during the ceremony. “These troopers have met high standards every step of the way, and our academy staff has worked tirelessly to ensure they are ready for the realities of this profession.”

Intensive Training Program

The newly minted troopers completed more than 1,000 hours of instruction covering both classroom academics and practical exercises. Their training encompassed a comprehensive curriculum including constitutional law, traffic and juvenile law, firearms training, defensive tactics, emergency medical care, criminal investigations and crash reconstruction.

Cadets also received specialized training in areas such as drug identification, computer crimes, domestic violence response, hazardous materials handling, hostage negotiations and high-speed vehicle pursuits.

Post 1 Commander Captain Joey Adams expressed confidence in the new additions to his team.

“We are pleased to welcome Troopers Ricky Damron and Cameron Lindsey to Post 1,” Adams said. “We are confident they will serve the citizens of our district with professionalism, dedication, and integrity.”

Mission and Future Recruitment

As the new troopers begin their assignments, they will work to fulfill KSP’s mission of enhancing public safety through service, integrity and professionalism. Their duties will include crime prevention and deterrence, highway safety education and enforcement, and protecting the rights of all individuals.

The Kentucky State Police continues its recruitment efforts, with Cadet Class 107 scheduled to arrive at the KSP Academy on May 17, 2026. Those interested in a career as a state trooper can find information at https://www.kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov/recruitment.
