Beau Dodson, WCBL/WCCK/Marshall County Daily Chief Meteorologist

(BENTON, Ky.) – A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire Marshall County area as bitterly cold conditions settle in for the weekend, according to Chief Meteorologist Beau Dodson.

Residents can expect scattered snow showers throughout Friday, with intervals of clouds and a possible dusting of accumulation. High temperatures will struggle to reach the low to mid-20s, with a north wind between 10 and 20 mph making conditions feel even colder.

The most dangerous conditions arrive Friday night into Saturday morning. Temperatures will plummet to between 6 and 10 degrees above zero, with wind chill values dropping to as low as 8 degrees below zero. A 20% chance of snow flurries remains in the forecast overnight, with north winds continuing at 8 to 16 mph.

Saturday offers little relief, with partly sunny skies and high temperatures only reaching the upper teens to lower 20s. A 20% chance of snow showers persists, and north winds gusting up to 20 mph will keep wind chills dangerously low.

Saturday night into Sunday morning will be the coldest period, with lows dropping to just 3 to 6 degrees.

Conditions moderate slightly by Sunday, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs climbing to the upper 20s to near 30 degrees.

Dodson is also monitoring another precipitation event for next Tuesday and Wednesday, though it remains too early to determine amounts or whether the area will see rain, snow, or a wintry mix.

Residents are urged to take precautions during this cold snap, including protecting exposed skin, checking on vulnerable neighbors, and ensuring pets have adequate shelter.
