(McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky.) — Two people were hospitalized Thursday evening following a three-vehicle collision that left one car overturned on top of another near the 5-Star Foodmart Gas Station on Clarks River Road.
McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at approximately 4:48 p.m. on January 23, according to officials.
Investigators determined that Terry Britton of Benton was pulling out of the gas station when he struck Steven McElwayne of Hickory as McElwayne was traveling in the outbound lanes.
The impact sent McElwayne’s vehicle into the median, where he collided with Joseph Forrest of Paducah, who was stopped and waiting to turn into the gas station. McElwayne’s vehicle then flipped over and came to rest on top of Forrest’s car.
Britton and Forrest were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. McElwayne’s condition was not immediately available.
Mercy EMS and the Reidland/Farley Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
