
(BENTON, Ky.)-A crowded field of candidates has filed to run for various Marshall County offices in the upcoming 2026 primary election, setting up contested races across multiple positions.
In the race for Marshall County Clerk, Republican Crissy Greer is the sole candidate who has filed for the position.
The Marshall County Judge/Executive race features a showdown between Republican Kevin Spraggs and Democrat Jimmie D Sloan, while Republican Jason Franklin Darnall is running unopposed for Marshall County Attorney.
Several Marshall County Commissioner races will see competitive primaries. In District 1, Republicans Eddie McGuire and JD Morehead will face off for their party’s nomination, while Democrat Thomas Ross Jameson has filed for the seat. District 2 features Republicans Marty R Barrett and Danny Cope competing against Democrat Eldon G Nattier. In District 3, Republican Monti R Collins will square off against Democrat Laura McHugh.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s race has attracted two Republican candidates: Matt A Hilbrecht and Doug Jordan.
The Marshall County Jailer position has the most crowded primary field, with four Republicans vying for the nomination: Robert Johnson, Barry Howell, Patti Burton, and Brian Cannon.
In other races, the Marshall County Coroner position features Republicans Kenny Pratt and Meagan O’Bryan, while Democrat Tony A Henson is running unopposed for PVA (Property Valuation Administrator).
Republican Larry Kyle Thompson has filed for Constable District 1, Michael D Gordon for Constable District 2, and Democrat Eryn Pritchett is seeking Justice of the Peace District 2.
A public drawing for races requiring a ballot order in the 2026 Primary Election will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Marshall County Fiscal Courtroom. The drawing will determine the order in which candidates appear on the ballot for contested races.
Kentucky primary elections will be held on Tuesday, May 19th.
