(BENTON, Ky.) — A 60-year-old Benton man is facing drug charges after a stolen truck was discovered at his Oak Level community residence last week, according to the Benton Police Department.
Eddie King was arrested Friday evening following an investigation that began when McCracken County Sheriff’s Office detectives alerted Officer Peyton Jackson about a possible sighting of a stolen truck in the area around 5:32 p.m.
Officer Jackson located the vehicle parked beside a residence on Oak Level Road. The truck had a broken passenger-side window, authorities said. As Jackson began confirming the vehicle’s identification numbers, King approached from the nearby residence.
According to police, King was found with keys to the stolen truck in his pockets. A search of King’s person also revealed methamphetamine, officers reported.
A subsequent search of the residence uncovered additional contraband, including more methamphetamine, marijuana, plastic baggies containing drug residue, digital scales, glass smoking pipes, and makeshift pipes fashioned from pill bottles. Police said other unidentified substances found in baggies are being analyzed.
King was transported to the Marshall County Jail and lodged on drug-related charges. The stolen truck was recovered and returned to its owner.
The investigation into the vehicle theft remains ongoing and is being conducted jointly by the Calvert City Police Department and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office. Additional charges are expected to be filed, authorities said.
