(BENTON, Ky.) — Marshall County magistrates will gather Tuesday morning for their first fiscal court meeting of 2026, with a packed agenda that includes budget approvals, a public hearing, and economic development discussions.
The meeting, scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at the Marshall County courthouse, will begin with approval of minutes from the December 16 session before magistrates tackle several significant items.
Chief among the business matters is consideration of the County Clerk’s budget for 2026. The court will also review annual orders establishing maximum salary levels for deputies in both the County Clerk’s and Sheriff’s offices.
A public hearing concerning Warnick Road is set for 9:30 a.m. in the Fiscal Court Room at 1101 Main Street.
Economic development will feature prominently on the agenda, with magistrates discussing a contract between the Marshall County Fiscal Court and Kentucky Lake Economic Development.
The court will also handle routine administrative matters, including approval of new hires, the Treasurer’s report, budget transfers, and payment of bills.
Magistrates are scheduled to enter executive session to discuss litigation and personnel matters. Such closed-door discussions are permitted under Kentucky’s Open Meetings Act.
The meeting is open to the public.
