(MADISONVILLE/DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — Marshall County’s basketball programs enjoyed successful weekends on the hardwood, with both squads picking up multiple victories before the holiday break.
Lady Marshals Stay Perfect at Maroon Classic
The Lady Marshals traveled to Madisonville for the Maroon Classic, where they continued their undefeated season with a pair of convincing wins. Marshall County defeated Bourbon County 56-20 before closing out the tournament with a 51-34 victory over Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The dominant performances improved the Lady Marshals to 8-0 on the season. Following a Christmas break, they will return to action Saturday at the FirstBank Holiday Bash at South Warren High School in Bowling Green, facing Owensboro at 1:30 p.m.
Marshals Go 3-0 in FNB Bank Holiday Classic
The Marshall County boys hosted the FNB Bank Marshall County Holiday Classic over the weekend at Reed Conder Gymnasium, sweeping all three games.
The Marshals opened tournament play Friday with a 70-45 win over New Faith Christian (Georgia). They followed with a 76-44 victory over Greater Destiny (North Carolina). Sunday’s championship game proved more challenging, as Marshall County held off Kentucky Region 5’s Caverna Colonels 52-47 in a hard-fought finale.
The Marshals (8-1) will also take a break for the holidays before returning to competition Saturday in the White, Greer and Maggard Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. They face North Laurel at 7:30 p.m.
