(PADUCAH, Ky.) — Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in a wooded area near the 1300 block of Tennessee Street on Thursday.
The Paducah Police Department said contractors working in the area found the deceased person and notified law enforcement. Officers responded to the scene and began a death investigation in coordination with the McCracken County Coroner’s Office.
According to police, the remains were in an advanced state of decomposition. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday as officials work to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.

Tips that lead to an arrest or indictment may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
