(DAYTONA BEACH, Fl.)-The Murray State Racers women’s basketball team completed an undefeated run at the Daytona Beach Classic, taking down Boston College 82-77 on Saturday at the Ocean Center. The triumph moved Murray State to 5-2 overall and capped a perfect 2-0 showing in the tournament.

The matchup proved to be a back-and-forth affair with neither team able to pull away. Boston College held an early advantage after the opening period, leading 20-15, but Murray State responded emphatically in the second quarter with a 27-23 run to seize momentum heading into the break.

Murray State’s success at the free-throw line ultimately sealed the outcome. The Racers converted 24 of 27 attempts from the stripe, finishing at nearly 89 percent in clutch moments.

Sharnecce Currie-Jelks paced Murray State’s offense with 23 points on efficient 8-for-13 shooting while also pulling down 10 boards for her latest double-double performance. Haven Ford provided crucial all-around play with 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists to lead the team in that category.

Additional scoring came from Keslyn Secrist (14 points, six rebounds) and Briley Pena, who delivered 11 points while connecting on all three of her attempts from beyond the arc. Halli Poock chipped in seven points as part of a well-distributed offensive effort.

The contest featured numerous momentum swings with 15 lead changes and six ties throughout. Notably, this marks Murray State’s first win against a team currently in the ACC since defeating Louisville over four decades ago in 1982, when Louisville competed in the Metro Conference.  This also is the first Power Four Conferences (ACC, BIG TEN, BIG XII, SEC) win for the Racers since defeating the Kentucky Wildcats in December 2022.

The Racers opened the Daytona Beach Classic play with a victory over George Mason on Friday before downing Boston College.
