(MAYFIELD, Ky.) — Kentucky State Police Post 1 has launched its annual Cram the Cruiser food drive, collecting non-perishable items to help ensure local families have meals on their tables this holiday season.
The initiative, which runs through December 5th, partners with area food pantries to distribute donations throughout the community. Residents can drop off contributions at the post’s headquarters at 8366 US Highway 45 N. in Hickory, where a cruiser is stationed outside for donations, or items can be left in the lobby.
The food drive will culminate with a signature collection event at the Kroger store in Murray on December 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central Time, where troopers will be on hand to accept donations.
State police are requesting unopened, unexpired non-perishable items such as canned beans, fruits, vegetables and soups; canned meats including chicken and tuna; pasta and sauce; instant oatmeal and potatoes; and peanut butter.
“As we approach the holiday season, KSP Post 1 is working with local food pantries to ensure no family in our community goes hungry,” officials said in announcing the drive.
Community members have until December 5 to contribute to the effort, which aims to stock local food pantries during one of the busiest times of year for assistance programs.
