(MURRAY, Ky.) — Murray State University police issued a timely warning Saturday following an early-morning assault at an off-campus fraternity house that involved multiple suspects and firearms.
According to the Murray State Police Department, the incident occurred in the early hours of November 22, 2025, at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house. The Murray Police Department responded to the scene and is leading the investigation.
The preliminary investigation revealed that four males assaulted a victim during the incident. Police say at least two firearms were brandished during the assault, and one firearm was allegedly used to strike the victim. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a white SUV.
Murray State Police assisted the Murray Police Department by conducting additional patrols in the area following the incident.
University officials initially issued a brief statement Friday acknowledging the off-campus incident at the private event when limited information was available. The police department issued the updated warning Saturday after receiving additional details, including preliminary suspect descriptions.
Authorities emphasized that there is currently no indication of an ongoing threat to the campus community. The timely warning was issued “out of an abundance of caution” now that incident and suspect information has become available, according to the statement.
The Murray State Police Department said it will provide further updates if additional details are confirmed by the Murray Police Department.
University police are advising students to take precautions, including walking in groups during late-night hours, using the campus Safety Escort Service, staying in well-lit areas, and remaining aware of their surroundings.
