(PADUCAH, Ky.) — After months of anticipation, the McCracken County Bicentennial History Book has officially arrived, offering residents a comprehensive look at two centuries of local heritage.
The Paducah Ambassadors announced this week that the commemorative volume is now available for pickup. Residents who pre-ordered copies can collect them at the McCracken County Public Library beginning Monday, November 24th. The library will distribute books on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The 416-page hardcover book features nearly 600 photographs chronicling McCracken County’s history from its founding through the present day. The oversized coffee-table format measures 8.5 by 11 inches.
A collaboration between the McCracken County Fiscal Court, the Paducah Ambassadors, and the McCracken County Public Library brought the project to fruition, with local historians contributing research and content.
Book committee member Roy Hensel expressed enthusiasm about the finished product. “Our book looks much better than I ever dreamed,” he said. “This will be a cherished keepsake for generations of McCracken Countians, and it’s the perfect way to document our county’s 200th anniversary.”
Customers who requested home delivery can expect their copies to ship during the week of November 24th. The book was produced by Acclaim Press, a publisher specializing in community histories.
A limited number of additional copies remain available for $60 each. Interested buyers may purchase them during library pickup hours or by contacting the Paducah Ambassadors at Paducah City Hall at (270) 444-8632.
