(MURRAY, Ky.)-Multiple equestrian competitions scheduled for this weekend in Murray have been postponed indefinitely due to an ongoing Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1) outbreak, organizers announced.
The Racer Rodeo Team confirmed that the 50th Annual Racer Roundup College Rodeo, originally scheduled for November 20-22, has been postponed to a date to be determined. Also affected are the finale of the 2025 Fall Barrel Series on November 22 and a High School Rodeo event planned for November 23.
While organizers said they have not been directly impacted by the outbreak, they are implementing precautionary measures to protect the health and safety of all horses that would have participated in the competitions.
“The health and safety of our horses will always be our number one priority,” the Racer Rodeo Team stated in their announcement.
All tickets purchased for the postponed events will be transferred to the rescheduled dates or refunded upon request. The organization plans to reschedule once health officials declare it safe for equine participants.
The team expressed sympathy for those affected by the outbreak and thanked supporters for their patience during this challenging time. New dates for the events will be announced when conditions improve.
