
(BENTON, Ky.)-The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office has reported numerous arrests spanning from late October through mid-November 2025, including several drug trafficking cases and multiple incidents involving impaired drivers.
Among the most serious incidents was the November 10 arrest of James Watson, 61, of Paducah. Detectives attempting to stop Watson’s vehicle reported he fled, nearly striking an officer in a parking lot before abandoning his vehicle on Murphy Street and fleeing on foot. With assistance from Benton Police, Watson was apprehended and faces charges including first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine and cocaine, fleeing and evading police, resisting arrest, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
A November 8 injury accident on Interstate 69 resulted in serious charges for Maria Serafin, 32, of Hopkinsville. Deputies found her seven-month-old child in a car seat that wasn’t secured to the vehicle. The child sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized along with Serafin. She faces multiple charges including operating a motor vehicle under the influence with aggravating circumstances, first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, and failure to use a child restraint device.
Several high-speed incidents occurred during the period. On October 30, Sophia Strange, 44, of Murray was clocked traveling 103 mph on US 641 before failing to stop for several miles. She was arrested on charges including reckless driving, fleeing and evading police, and operating on a suspended license.
Drug-related arrests were prevalent throughout the reporting period. Jonathan Collins, 54, of Benton was arrested November 9 on an indictment warrant for first-degree methamphetamine trafficking. Multiple other arrests involved possession of controlled substances, with methamphetamine being the most commonly cited drug.
Several unusual incidents also occurred. On November 7, Heather Myers, 50, of Murray was arrested after deputies responded to reports of someone walking in and out of traffic on Interstate 69. She faces charges including bribery of a public servant after allegedly attempting to pay the arresting deputy to release her.
The arrests also included numerous bench warrants for failure to appear, probation violations, and contempt of court charges from various county courts in the region.
