(McCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky.) – McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Z. Clymer announced Thursday that he is seeking reelection, citing a series of major accomplishments during his seven-year tenure.
Clymer, who has led the county since 2018, pointed to significant economic development achievements, including attracting multi-billion-dollar uranium enrichment companies that are expected to create thousands of construction jobs and hundreds of permanent positions supplying the nation’s nuclear fuel needs for decades to come.
“When you hire someone to do a job, just as when you elect a candidate, you want a person with years of experience, with a good reputation, the tools and skills needed, and a proven positive track record,” Clymer said in a statement. “I hope you will agree, that is me.”
Major Accomplishments
Under Clymer’s leadership, the county has seen substantial infrastructure and economic improvements:
Economic Development: The judge executive attracted thousands of new jobs through both new companies and expansions of existing businesses, while improving county finances from what he described as “poor to excellent” while maintaining low tax rates.
Public Safety: Clymer strengthened the Sheriff’s office with higher wages and advanced equipment, and established new emergency radio equipment for all first responders throughout the county.
Transportation and Recreation: Major projects completed or underway include the new Barkley Regional Airport terminal, which now offers flights to Chicago and Houston, and a state-of-the-art Sports Park scheduled for completion next March that will serve both tourists and local children.
Parks and Community Development: Improvements have been made to Carson Park, Floral Hall, and local parks in Heath, Reidland, and Lone Oak. The county has also cleared and leveled the Triple Rail Site for future development and removed dilapidated and unsafe structures from neighborhoods.
Government Relations: Clymer emphasized establishing strong, positive relationships with partners across local, state, federal, and nonprofit organizations.
“I am honored to have the privilege of leading McCracken County as Judge Executive for the past seven years,” Clymer said. “I respectfully request your vote for an additional term to continue our progress in making our great Community stronger still.”
The election date has not yet been specified in Clymer’s announcement.
