Kentucky Auditor Releases 16 County Financial Audits

(FRANKFORT, Ky.) — Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts Allison Ball announced Monday the completion of 16 county-level financial audits covering clerk fees, sheriff fees, and fiscal court operations across the state.

The audits, released November 10, examine 2024 financial records for county clerks in Allen, Christian, Clay, Clinton, Graves, Hickman, Leslie, McCracken, Rockcastle, and Warren counties. Additionally, sheriff fee audits were completed for Knox, Lyon, Marshall, and Monroe counties.

The reports also include a 2023 tax settlement audit for Lyon County Sheriff’s office and a comprehensive fiscal court audit for Owen County.

These routine audits are conducted by the Auditor of Public Accounts office to ensure transparency and accountability in county government financial operations. County clerks and sheriffs collect various fees for services including vehicle registrations, marriage licenses, property records, and tax collections.
