Marshall County Runners Compete at State Cross Country Championships

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) — Marshall County’s Cross Country teams took to the courses at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday for the Class 3A KHSAA State Championships, with several athletes posting strong performances in the 5,000-meter races.

On the boys’ side, Kobey Yates led the Marshals with a fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 15:41.97. Yates’ top-five performance highlighted Marshall County’s day at the state meet.

Daniel Walker finished 176th with a time of 18:44.12, followed by Thatcher Newnum in 209th place (19:21.93). Jared Gaudy placed 222nd (19:37.98), while Jake Fennel came in 232nd (19:43.93). Madden Lovett finished 249th in 20:09.51, and Chase Duncan rounded out the boys’ team with a 279th-place finish in 22:04.03.

For the Lady Marshals, Lauren Noles paced the team with a 49th-place finish, completing the course in 20:23.61. Eden Sandlin placed 174th with a time of 22:33.52, while Ava Sutherland finished 210th in 23:26.53.

Ava Moore crossed the finish line in 231st place (24:18.35), followed closely by Lexi Driver in 236th (24:37.10). Destiny Dickson completed the Marshall County girls’ contingent, finishing 264th with a time of 27:37.07.

All Marshall County athletes successfully completed their races at the state championships.
