Local Teacher Receives CCAT Grant for Innovative STEM Project

(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.)-Elyssa Fletcher, a teacher at Central Elementary School, has been awarded a CCAT Grant to bring hands-on engineering experiences to her students through an innovative STEM initiative.

The grant will fund an exciting project where students will design and build a pinball machine and a medieval catapult. Through these interactive builds, students will explore fundamental concepts in energy, design principles, and problem-solving strategies.

“This hands-on project supports Next Generation Science Standards and strengthens creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills,” according to the announcement from CES (Central Elementary School).

The project represents a significant investment in experiential learning, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical engineering challenges while developing essential 21st-century skills.

The CCAT Grant program supports innovative educational initiatives that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
