
EDDYVILLE, Ky. — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office handled dozens of calls ranging from traffic collisions to drug arrests during a busy week from October 20-25, according to a media release from the department.
Drug Arrests Follow Traffic Stop
The most serious incident occurred Friday afternoon when Deputy Josh Travis conducted a traffic stop on US 62 East that resulted in multiple drug charges against two occupants of a 2000 GMC Sonoma truck.
Margarita Roman, 60, of Cadiz, faces eight charges including DUI, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and several vehicle-related violations. Brittany L. Harris, 34, of Eddyville, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, illegal possession of a legend drug, and drug paraphernalia possession. Both were lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Vandalism Investigation Ongoing
Deputies are seeking information about a vandalism incident at Indian Point Campground that occurred between October 18-21. Unknown suspects intentionally cut a Wi-Fi cable and slashed three of four tires on a parked SUV, causing more than $800 in damages. Series of Traffic Collisions
The week saw numerous traffic accidents throughout the county, though no serious injuries were reported:
- A semi-truck collision at a Kuttawa truck stop early Saturday morning involved three vehicles when a Peterbilt struck a parked Freightliner, which then hit a parked Volvo.
- An unusual incident Wednesday afternoon saw unsecured plywood blow off a trailer and strike a motorcyclist on US 62 near Kuttawa.
- Multiple rear-end and lane-change collisions were also reported throughout the week in Kuttawa, Suwanee, and surrounding areas.
Other Incidents
Other calls handled by deputies included a disorderly conduct charge against a 16-year-old student following a cafeteria disturbance, a shoplifting charge, and an animal control citation for a Paducah woman whose pit bull-mixed dogs were repeatedly found unconfined at night.
