(EDDYVILLE, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office handled a wide range of incidents over the past week, from a life-threatening traffic collision to multiple arrests including juveniles charged in connection with a residential burglary.

Construction Site Sees Second Trespassing Incident in One Day

Law enforcement returned to a Kuttawa construction site on Tarryon Too Drive for the second time on Monday, October 13, after responding to an earlier burglary and theft complaint that same day.

Deputies and Kentucky State Police troopers were called back around 8 p.m. after a vehicle drove past posted no-trespassing signs onto the property. The incident resulted in the arrests of Justin A. Mayhugh, 36, and Amanda Rowlands Overbaugh, 35, both of Kuttawa.

Mayhugh, already wanted as a fugitive from Livingston County, had a bench warrant served by KSP for probation violation on a felony offense. Deputy Bobby Beeler charged both suspects with second-degree criminal trespassing, and they were booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The investigation into the earlier burglary and thefts at the construction site continues. Sheriff Brent White is asking anyone with information to contact his office at 270-388-2311.

Woman Remains in ICU After Multi-Vehicle Collision

Kimberly D. Fralicx, 61, of Eddyville, remains hospitalized in intensive care following a serious collision Thursday morning, October 16, at the intersection of KY 93 South, KY 293, and KY 1055.

According to Chief Deputy Sam Adams’ investigation, Fralicx was traveling south on KY 93 around 9:15 a.m. when she attempted to turn left onto KY 293. Apparently blinded by the sun, she failed to yield the right-of-way and pulled into the path of a northbound semi-truck owned by Vinson Farms of Cadiz.

Fralicx became trapped in her 2007 Kia and had to be extricated by the Eddyville Fire Department. She was airlifted by AirEvac to an out-of-state hospital.

The semi-truck driver, Jorge Huerta Mercado, 45, of Cadiz, was not injured after his vehicle struck a guardrail and went down a steep embankment following the collision. He refused medical treatment at the scene.

Multiple agencies assisted, including AirEvac, Eddyville Fire Department, Eddyville Police Department, Kentucky State Police, and several state agencies.

Juveniles Charged in Residential Burglary Investigation

Sheriff White arrested a 16-year-old male from Princeton on Monday, October 13, just after 3 p.m., following an investigation into a residential burglary that occurred at a home on KY 818 North on October 6.

The juvenile was charged with second-degree burglary (by complicity), theft by unlawful taking under $10,000 (by complicity), second-degree criminal mischief (by complicity), and third-degree criminal trespass. He was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Paducah.

Two days later, on Wednesday, October 15, SRO deputies detained another 16-year-old male student from Kuttawa at the high school in connection with the same burglary. Sheriff White arrested him on similar charges, and he was also lodged in the McCracken County facility, where he remains incarcerated.

The investigation continues with additional charges pending. Stolen property in the case, including two firearms (a shotgun and handgun), clothing accessories, and an ATV, have been recovered and returned to the victim.

High School Assault Investigation Underway

On Tuesday, October 14, at 3:01 p.m., SRO deputies responded to an assault complaint at the high school involving a student injured in an on-campus altercation. A 16-year-old male student from Eddyville was charged with fourth-degree assault.

The incident was captured on school surveillance video, and the juvenile victim required medical attention. The investigation continues with both district court and administrative school disciplinary proceedings pending.
