(BENTON, Ky.) – The Marshall County Exceptional Center marked its 62nd annual Exceptional Sunday with an outpouring of community support, including a substantial $70,000 donation from the Marshall County Elks Lodge #2707.

Executive Director Lindsey Walker expressed gratitude for the continued success of the longstanding tradition, which she described as “a shining example of what our community can accomplish when we come together in support of a meaningful cause.”

The nonprofit organization provides programs and services designed to enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping clients develop skills needed for fulfilling, independent lives.

The highlight of this year’s event was the Marshall County Elks Lodge’s six-figure contribution, funds raised through their annual golf tournament benefit. Walker acknowledged the extensive work behind such a donation, noting it required “countless hours of planning, coordination, and dedication from a team of selfless individuals.”

As a nonprofit, the Exceptional Center depends on community support, including donations from churches, local businesses, and fundraising events to sustain its operations. Walker emphasized that Exceptional Sunday serves dual purposes—raising critical funds while fostering awareness, inclusion, and compassion throughout the community.

“Your support directly impacts the lives of those we serve,” Walker said in thanking volunteers, donors, participants, and supporters who contributed to making the event successful.

The annual tradition continues to provide essential funding for the center’s mission while bringing the community together in support of individuals with disabilities.
