(WEST PADUCAH, Ky.) — The Marshall County Lady Marshals’ soccer season came to a close Wednesday night with a narrow 1-0 defeat to the McCracken County Lady Mustangs in the KHSAA Girls Region One Championship game.
Despite a strong defensive effort, the Lady Marshals were unable to find the back of the net against a determined McCracken County squad. Lady Mustangs Junior goalkeeper Addison Smith recorded eight saves in the championship match, as the Orange found themselves unlucky on a number of shots on goal. Late in the 2nd half, Madeline Ault scored the match winner off an assist from Kaelynn Dick.
Three of the four matches between the Lady Marshals and the Lady Mustangs ended in 1-0 scores this season. The loss marks the end of the season for Marshall County (16-4-1), which will see 11 seniors depart. The Lady Mustangs (11-7-2) advance with the Region One title to face the winner of Bowling Green/Greenwood next week.
