
(BENTON, Ky.) — A Benton man faces multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop on the evening of October 10, 2025.
According to the Benton Police Department, Officer Peyton Jackson initiated a traffic stop at approximately 8:05 p.m. on West 13th Street after observing a red four-door truck with one headlight out leaving a residence near Walnut Street that police identified as belonging to a known drug dealer.
The driver was identified as Jason Alexander, 42, of Benton. During the stop, Officer Jackson noted that Alexander had red, glossy eyes and displayed signs of impairment. The officer also reported detecting a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a loaded syringe containing methamphetamine and a bag of crystal methamphetamine hidden inside a box on the back floorboard, police said. While placing Alexander in custody, officers also found a small bag of marijuana on his person.
Alexander was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Driving Under the Influence, 1st Offense
- Operating with one headlight
- Failure to produce insurance
- No registration receipt/plates
- Failure to have license in possession

The investigation remains ongoing. All charges are allegations, and Alexander is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
