
(BENTON, Ky.) — The Marshall County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room at 86 High School Road in Benton.
The meeting will open with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by presentations highlighting student achievements and school programs across the district.
Student Recognition and Presentations
Several Marshall County students will be recognized for their representation of Kentucky at state, regional, and local Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) events. Students Lydia Smith, Brooke Holt, Isabella Ledgerwood, Reagan Mason, Hannah Miller, and Brylynn Epps will present to the board.
Brad Darnall will also give a presentation on the “Level Up” program at South Marshall Elementary School.
District Reports
Superintendent and staff will provide updates on various district operations, including instructional programs, personnel matters, attendance and safety, and transportation and facilities. Reports will be delivered by Instructional staff Jackie Reid and Kevin Jackson, Personnel Director Amanda Henderson, Pupil Personnel Director Brent Lovett, and Transportation and Facilities Director Allan Smith.
Financial and Construction Matters
The board will consider several significant financial items, including the approval of the treasurer’s report and the purchase of five new school buses for the 2026 model year—one preschool bus and four conventional buses.
Board members will also review payment applications totaling more than $420,000 related to the ongoing Marshall County Technical Center renovation and addition project, including invoices to CMS Architects and Pinnacle, Inc.
Grant Applications and Community Events
Among the consent items, the board will consider approval of several grant applications, including the TVA Energy Right School Uplift Grant, the KAST Outreach Grant, and the Arts Miles Program Grant for South Marshall Elementary School.
The board will also vote on a request from the Good Neighbor Night Committee to use the Calvert City Elementary School gymnasium for its November 6 event with all fees waived.
