
(WEST PADUCAH, Ky.) – The Marshall County Lady Marshals are headed to the First Region championship game after shutting out Murray High 2-0 in Monday evening’s semifinal at the KHSAA Girls First Region Soccer Championship.
The match remained scoreless through a defensive first half before Marshall County broke through midway into the second period. Maddie Reed delivered a precise pass to Chaney Green, who lifted a shot over the Murray keeper to give the Lady Marshals a 1-0 advantage at the 27:36 mark.
Marshall County sealed the victory late in the match when Addison Peterson converted a setup from Rylee Teague with just 5:03 remaining on the clock, extending the lead to 2-0.
The win propels Marshall County into Wednesday night’s regional championship, where they will face host McCracken County. The Lady Marshals have defeated the Lady Mustangs in all three matches this season, twice at West Paducah with the score being 1-0 in both of those contests and a 6-3 win for Marshall County on their home pitch. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
