
(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) — Landon Hunt of McCracken County fired rounds of 68-68 to finish at 8-under par and claim medalist honors at the KHSAA Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac Boys State Golf Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club.
Hunt’s 136 total gave him a three-stroke victory over St. Xavier’s Luc Kelty, who finished at 5-under par (70-69—139). Will Stuart, also of St. Xavier, placed third at 1-under par with rounds of 71-72.
St. Xavier dominated the team competition, capturing the state championship with a two-day total of 578 (+2). The Tigers shot 290 in the opening round and improved to 288 in Sunday’s final round to finish seven strokes ahead of runner-up Madison Central (585, +9).
McCracken County placed third in the team standings at 597 (+21), while Christian Academy of Louisville finished fourth at 601 (+25).
Marshall County Finishes Fifth
Marshall County completed the 36-hole tournament in fifth place with a team score of 619 (+43). The Marshals shot 310 in the first round and 309 in the final round.
Leading the way for Marshall County was Paxton Carter, who tied for 20th place individually with a score of 151 (+7). Carter posted rounds of 75-76 over the two days.
Ryan Stokes tied for 28th place with a total of 154 (+10), shooting 78-76. Brooks Lamb tied for 35th at 156 (+12) with rounds of 78-78.
Gage Norman finished tied for 40th with a score of 158 (+14), posting matching rounds of 79 both days. Nolan Hurst rounded out the Marshall County scoring at 183 (+39) after rounds of 93-90, placing 88th overall.
The tournament featured 89 individual competitors and nine complete teams from across the Commonwealth.
