(BENTON, Ky.)— The city’s first annual trunk or treat celebration proved to be a resounding success, with organizers vowing to expand the community event in coming years.

The Halloween-themed gathering drew a significant turnout, bringing together families and local officials for an afternoon of treats and festivities.

“We had a great turnout today,” Mayor Rita Dotson said, expressing enthusiasm about the event’s debut.

The celebration was made possible through the collaborative efforts of multiple community partners. Vehicle owners participated by decorating their cars and distributing candy to children, while the Benton Fire Department provided s’mores and managed traffic control throughout the event.

The Benton Police Department also joined in the festivities, helping distribute treats to attendees. Riverwoods Church contributed by supplying cold water to participants.

The Benton Partnership coordinated the event’s planning and execution, building on their year-round community engagement efforts.

With the successful launch behind them, organizers are already looking ahead to making next year’s trunk or treat “bigger and better.”
