(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — The Calvert Area Development Association will host its annual Carol Capps Pink Walk on Saturday morning, continuing a tradition that honors a local advocate whose work helped save lives through breast cancer awareness.

The event, scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Calvert City Civic Center, commemorates Carol Capps, who dedicated herself to promoting breast cancer screenings and regular medical checkups throughout the community.

“In October, pink ribbons serve as a reminder of the lives touched by breast cancer,” said Brittany Story, president of CADA. “However you have been touched, we want to take October—and beyond—to remember and remind ourselves and those around us to be proactive and get your mammograms.”

The walk welcomes participants of all ages who wish to show solidarity with those who have lost their battle with the disease, those currently fighting, and survivors. Organizers are particularly encouraging breast cancer survivors to attend, as they will be recognized during the event for their strength and resilience.

Beyond the walk itself, attendees can participate in a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses. All proceeds from the auction will support breast cancer awareness initiatives in the area.

Event t-shirts are available for purchase, and those who pre-ordered may pick up their shirts Friday between noon and 4 p.m. at the civic center.

The Pink Walk represents CADA’s ongoing commitment to Capps’ legacy of promoting early detection and preventive care in the fight against breast cancer.
