
(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has reported several significant incidents and arrests occurring between late September and early October, including a school threat investigation, drug-related offenses, and various warrant services.
Juvenile Arrested for School Threats
A 15-year-old male student was taken into custody in the early morning hours of Monday, September 29, following an investigation into threats made during a school lockdown.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received reports on Sunday evening, September 28, around 6:45 p.m., regarding alarming statements made by a student at the high school. Deputy Bobby Beeler, School Resource Officer Deputy Cory Jessup, and school administrators conducted a multi-hour investigation to identify the suspect and witnesses.
According to authorities, the juvenile made one alarming statement and one threatening statement to fellow students during a lockdown period that followed an incident on Friday. Students who overheard the statements reported them to family members on Sunday evening, prompting calls to school administrators and the Sheriff’s Office.
The juvenile was charged with Terroristic Threatening – 2nd Degree and has been lodged in the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Paducah. Investigators have not yet determined whether these incidents are connected to the threat received the previous Friday. Both the Kentucky State Police and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate.
Man Arrested After False Burglary Report
Jacob G. Buchanan, 30, of Kuttawa, was arrested on Tuesday, September 30, following a burglary in progress call on Wilderness Road that turned out to be false.
Sheriff’s Office personnel, along with the Eddyville Police Department and Kentucky State Police, responded just before 7 p.m. to reports of up to five people involved in a burglary. Upon arrival, only Buchanan was present at the scene.
During the investigation, officers determined that Buchanan was under the influence of methamphetamine and was hallucinating. He was found to be in possession of illegal drugs and firearms.
Buchanan faces multiple charges including Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 2nd Offense (Meth), Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia-Possession, False Report of an Incident to Law Enforcement (Felony), and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Woman Arrested for Intoxication in Court
Sandra K. Randall, 53, of Joelton, Tennessee, was arrested on Wednesday, October 1, after appearing intoxicated in Lyon District Court.
Sheriff Brent White received a complaint from court security deputies around 10:23 a.m. regarding an adult female who appeared intoxicated. After Randall concluded her business with the court, Sheriff White spoke with her and determined she was manifestly under the influence of methamphetamine.
Randall was charged with Public Intoxication (Controlled Substance) and lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Additional Arrests and Citations
Shoplifting Summons: On Wednesday, October 1, around 4:35 p.m., Deputy Josh Travis served a McCracken County criminal summons on Avinash Shirkrisin, 27, of Suwanee, charging him with Theft by Unlawful Taking-Shoplifting related to an incident in Paducah on August 23. Shirkrisin was summoned to appear in McCracken District Court in October.
Vicious Animal Citation: On Thursday, October 2, around 1:30 p.m., Chief Deputy Sam Adams responded to an animal complaint on East Ridge Road. Cynthia E. Sanbourn, 67, of Eddyville, was charged on a citation for Harboring a Vicious Animal after her dog prevented a resident from leaving their home. She will appear in Lyon District Court in October.
Bench Warrant Arrest: Also on Thursday, October 2, around 4:35 p.m., Deputy Josh Travis and an Eddyville Police Department officer located Caleb M. Wellborn, 30, of Eddyville, at a home on KY 293. Wellborn was arrested on a bench warrant from Lyon District Court for failure to appear in court and failure to pay child support. He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Voluntary Surrender: On Friday, October 3, around 12:30 p.m., Chief Deputy Sam Adams arrested Mae N. Frazier, 51, of Kuttawa, after she voluntarily surrendered herself at the Sheriff’s Office. Frazier was wanted on a bench warrant from Fayette District Court where she is charged with Receiving Stolen Property under $1,000. She posted a $500 cash bond and was released from custody.
