Nighttime Work Zone Planned on Interstate 24 in Marshall County Starting Monday, Oct. 6

(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) (Oct. 3, 2025) – A nighttime work zone on Interstate 24 in Marshall County will start on Monday, Oct. 6 as part of a project to reinforce the shoulders of two bridges: the I-24 bridge over U.S. 62 at Exit 27/Kentucky Dam and the Tennessee River Bridge at the Marshall-Livingston County Line.

To facilitate the work, I-24 will be blocked overnight at the work zone for approximately seven nights, with traffic detoured by law enforcement.

Lane Restrictions and Detour Schedule:

Oct. 6, 7, and 8 – I-24 Eastbound near Exit 27

  • Lane restrictions from 7-9 p.m.; followed by a detour from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Detour Route: Exit 27 off-ramp to U.S. 62, then back onto I-24 eastbound via the on-ramp.

Oct. 9 and 10 – I-24 Westbound near Exit 27

  • Lane restrictions from 7-9 p.m.; followed by a detour from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Detour Route: Exit 27 off-ramp to U.S. 62, then back onto I-24 westbound via the on-ramp.

Oct. 13 and 14 – I-24 Eastbound near the Tennessee River Bridge

  • Lane restrictions from 7-9 p.m.; followed by a detour from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Detour Route: Exit 27 to U.S. 62 and KY 453, returning to I-24 eastbound at Exit 31.

Oct. 15 – I-24 Westbound near the Tennessee River Bridge

  • Lane restrictions from 7-9 p.m.; followed by a detour from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Detour Route:  Exit 31 to KY 453 and U.S. 62, returning to I-24 westbound at Exit 27.

Please note: All work is weather-dependent, and schedules may change.

Please allow extra travel time and use caution in the work zone.

Following this work, temporary barrier walls will be installed on I-24 near Exit 27 and the I-24 eastbound on-ramp at U.S. 62 to shift traffic.

Motorists should also be aware of a separate project taking place on the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge during the month of October.

Also starting Monday, October 6, the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction during daytime hours for approximately three weeks to allow for corrective work.
