Mr. George Place, Jr., age 82 of Symsonia, KY died on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY. He was a veteran of the US Airforce serving as an aircraft mechanic and also retired from Fairchild where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of new Life Assembly of God. Mr. Place will be remembered for his love of tinkering and fixing things.
Born Wednesday, September 22, 1943 in New Brittian, CT, he was the son of the late George Place, Sr. and the late Mable (Brown) Place.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Thomson) Place of Symsonia, KY, son, Geore Place, III of Oklahoma, daughters, Jackie Baughn (Donald) of Oklahoma, JoAnne Davis (Greg) of Symsonia, KY, brothers, David Place and Douglas Place, grandchildren, Wayne Baughn, Travis Baughn, Valaree Vinson, Chazee O’Toole, Nicholas Blanchard, George Place IV, and great-grandchildren, Cedar O’Toole, Joe O’Toole, Juniper O’Toole, and Romi Collado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marilyn Place.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, Kentucky 42025.
