Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park Celebrates Trees with Week-Long Event Series

(GILBERTSVILLE, Ky.) – Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park will host its annual Tree Week Celebration from October 11-19, offering visitors a diverse lineup of educational programs and outdoor activities centered around environmental conservation and appreciation of nature.

The week-long celebration kicks off Friday, October 11, with a Kids and Leaf Suncatcher craft session running from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Lodge Lobby. An art exhibit will also open that day and remain on display throughout the week in the same location.

Saturday, October 12, brings two featured events: a Fall Colors Paddle excursion departing from the Paddle Boat Ramp at 10 a.m., and “Praise Under the Pines,” an outdoor worship service at 2 p.m. at Lake View Pavilion. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

Sunday’s programming includes a Coffee, Trees & Trails hike departing from Lake View Pavilion at 10 a.m., followed by a hands-on tree care workshop on Monday, October 14. The workshop, scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Sustainability Garden, will cover pruning, planting techniques, and general tree maintenance. That evening, the park will host a Forest Friends Night Walk at 6 p.m., departing from the KDV Campground. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and light-colored clothing, and bring flashlights.

The celebration continues with Tree Fun for Kids on October 15 at Lake View Pavilion (9 a.m.) and a Guided Tree Trail Hike on October 16, also at Lake View Pavilion (9 a.m.). An Art Exhibit Reception will be held October 16 at 6 p.m. in the Lodge Meeting Room.

Grounding Yoga sessions are scheduled for October 17 at 10:30 a.m., with the location to be announced. The class costs $5 per person. The week concludes with Arts and Crafts in the Park on October 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Convention Center.
