Trinity Beth Leads Marshall County to Third Place at State First Round Golf Tournament

(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) – Marshall County finished third in the team standings at the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac First Round State Tournament held Monday at Calvert City Country Club.

The Marshals posted a team total of 326, 38 strokes over par, trailing champion Bowling Green (332, +33) and runner-up Daviess County (352, +35).

Senior Trinity Beth paced Marshall County with a tournament-best round of 67, finishing five under par to claim medalist honors. Beth’s performance was the only sub-par round of the day.

“Trinity had an outstanding round,” Marshall County head coach Aaron Beth said of the senior’s performance. “She really stepped up when we needed it.”

The Marshals received solid support from their other competitors. CeCelia Ray carded an 84 (+12), while Charlee Murphy and Kelli Roberts each shot 88 (+16). Brooklyn Cunningham rounded out the team scoring with an 89 (+17).

Bowling Green captured the team title by 20 strokes over Daviess County, with Taylor County (345, +57) and West Jessamine (350, +62) finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

Claire Reynolds of Daviess County finished second individually with an even-par 72, while Cumberland County’s Kenzie Willen took third at 74 (+2).

The Lady Marshals will play in the State Championship Final Rounds October 7-8th at the Bowling Green Country Club.
