(PADUCAH, Ky.)-The National Weather Service Paducah is forecasting low-level severe weather and flash flooding possibilities for today and Wednesday across the region.

Lead Forecaster Justin Gibbs reports that while conditions don’t appear particularly threatening, residents should remain aware of potential hazards. Some thunderstorms may produce small hail and brief periods of strong winds as they develop.

The primary concern centers around heavy rainfall from individual storm systems, which could lead to isolated flash flooding in vulnerable areas. Storm activity is expected to generate significant precipitation in short timeframes.

While the anticipated rainfall won’t be sufficient to completely alleviate ongoing drought conditions throughout the region, forecasters expect it will provide some relief and modest improvement to current dry conditions.

The weather service has issued a Level 1 out of 5 risk rating for both severe weather and flash flooding, indicating low but measurable chances for hazardous conditions over the next 48 hours.
