(BENTON, Ky.) — Two Benton residents face multiple drug trafficking charges after a disturbance call led to the discovery of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia at their residence.
On September 12, 2025, at approximately 6:57 p.m., Officer Peyton Jackson responded to a disturbance complaint on Oak Level Road. The caller reported that an apparently intoxicated woman was beating on their door, yelling for someone to call 911, and claiming she was “on mushrooms” and needed help.
Officer Jackson located the woman at the intersection of 7th Street and Rayburn. The individual, later identified as Catina Tolley, 47, of Benton, was observed sweating profusely and waving her hands while yelling. When Tolley approached the patrol vehicle, she attempted to open the door and began exhibiting disorderly behavior, including kicking doors, head-butting windows, and screaming profanities while clearly under the influence of a controlled substance.
Further investigation revealed that Tolley and her boyfriend, Kevin Hollingsworth, 53, also of Benton, had both consumed psychedelic mushrooms. Officers Jackson and Jake Darnell, along with Deputy Dustin Bevil of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, proceeded to conduct a search of the couple’s residence.
The search yielded significant evidence, including 12 ounces of marijuana, THC vape pens, and three bags of psychedelic mushrooms in clear plastic bags. According to the investigation, Hollingsworth had purchased the mushrooms in Michigan and transported them to Kentucky. Officers also discovered a large quantity of cash in the same bag as the illegal substances.
