(CENTRAL KENTUCKY) – The Marshall County 4-H Sharp Shooters delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 Kentucky 4-H Shooting Sports Competition, bringing home multiple first-place finishes and individual honors from the two-day event held September 13-14 in Wilmore and Berea.
Twenty-three members of the Marshall County team competed alongside more than 1,000 4-H participants from across Kentucky in various shooting disciplines, with several achieving top honors in their respective categories.
Team Championships Lead the Way
The Sharp Shooters dominated team competition, capturing first place in three divisions. The Air Pistol 12-14 team of Skylar Seaford, Cayson McLeod, Anna Grace English, and Addison Wyatt claimed the top spot, while the Air Pistol 15-18 team featuring Edie Jones, Roman Bradley, Kaden Seaford, and Hannah Miller also earned first place.
The Air Sport Rifle 15-18 team of Wiley English, Dalton Smith, Kaden Seaford, and Edie Jones completed the championship sweep with another first-place finish.
Individual Excellence Shines
Wiley English emerged as a standout performer, earning the coveted “TOP SHOT” designation with a first-place finish in Air Sport Rifle 15-18 Individual competition. English also secured second place in the same team event and claimed third place in both .22 Target Rifle 15-18 Individual and Archery Target Compound Bow 15-18.
First-time competitor James Ellis English made an immediate impact, earning “TOP SHOT” honors with a first-place finish in Shotgun Division I 9-11 Individual.
Other notable individual performances included Skylar Seaford’s second-place finish in Air Pistol 12-14 Individual, Dalton Smith’s second-place showing in Air Sport Rifle 15-18 Individual, and Anna Grace English’s second-place finish in .22 Sport Rifle 12-14 Individual.
Strong Coaching Foundation
The team’s success is built on a solid coaching foundation across all disciplines. Patrick Westerfield and Morgan Westerfield lead the archery program, while Kyle English and Kosta Seaford coach rifle and BB gun events. Bobby Cheshire and Kent Puckett handle pistol instruction, and Josh Smith, Kerry Pogue, and Seth Wyatt coach shotgun events.
Behind the scenes, Lead County Coordinator Misty Seaford and Assistant County Coordinator Lacinda English help organize the program, supported by parents, guardians, grandparents, and other family members.
Looking Ahead
The Marshall County 4-H Sharp Shooters are concluding their current season and will resume activities in February or March 2026. The group practices at the Calvert City Gun Club and typically holds its first informational meeting in late March to early April.
Marshall County youth ages 9-18 and their parents or guardians are welcome to attend the informational meeting to learn more about the program. The club will announce meeting dates through local schools and newspapers.
