Marshals Split Saturday Soccer Doubleheader in Evansville

(EVANSVILLE) — The Marshall County Marshals soccer team traveled to Indiana on Saturday for a challenging doubleheader, coming away with a split after defeating Evansville Christian before falling to Evansville Harrison.

Game 1: Marshals 1, Evansville Christian 0

The Marshals opened their day with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Evansville Christian. Senior Ethan Upton provided the game’s lone goal, finding the back of the net to secure the clean sheet win for Marshall County.

Junior goalkeeper Carson Lovett was solid between the posts, recording one save while posting the shutout to help his team claim the opening match.

Game 2: Evansville Harrison 3, Marshals 2

In the nightcap, Marshall County battled valiantly but came up short in a 3-2 loss to Evansville Harrison. Despite the defeat, the Marshals showed resilience with goals from junior Maddox Schroader and senior Ethan Upton.

Schroader led the offensive charge with both a goal and an assist, while junior Trent Jackson also contributed an assist. Upton added his second goal of the day to keep the Marshals competitive throughout the contest.

Lovett returned to goal for the second match, making one save but allowing three goals in the higher-scoring affair.

The Marshals are now 8-8-1 and will play their final regular season home match on Tuesday against the Mayfield Cardinals.
