Marshall County High School Riders Shine at England-Idlewild Creek Showdown

(BURLINGTON, Ky.) — Marshall County High School Mountain Bikers delivered impressive performances at the “Showdown at the Creek” race held at England-Idlewild on September 14, 2025, with multiple riders earning podium finishes and top-10 placements across various divisions.  As a team, the Orange finished 4th overall in the meet and through the first two races, they are also 4th overall.

Varsity Division Highlights

Brady Atkins led Marshall County’s varsity charge, securing a solid 4th place finish in the highly competitive Varsity Boys division. Atkins completed the four-lap course in 1:23:00.98, posting consistent lap times throughout the race and earning 547 points for his effort.

In the Varsity Girls division, Emma Roberts claimed 5th place with a time of 1:39:03.72, demonstrating the depth of Marshall County’s program across gender divisions.

JV Success Stories

Marshall County’s younger riders showed exceptional promise in the JV divisions:

JV1 Boys: Nathan Downs finished 13th out of 25 competitors, clocking a respectable 1:02:56.36 for the three-lap course. Dalton Powell wasn’t far behind in 17th place with a time of 1:04:38.31.

JV2 Boys: Gannon DeClue (10th place, 45:17.25) and Max Dittman (14th place, 46:41.99) represented Marshall County well in the two-lap JV2 division, while Avery Criswell rounded out the team’s effort in 22nd place.

JV3 Boys: Nate Boone delivered one of Marshall County’s strongest performances of the day, earning a 3rd place podium finish with a time of 45:10.24. Gabriel Rob added another top-10 finish in 10th place (48:28.60).

Middle School Standouts

Marshall County’s middle school program showed its strength across multiple divisions:

Middle School A Boys: Gracen Newnum placed 5th (38:33.14) while Hudson Atkins finished 12th (40:35.72), both completing the challenging three-lap course.

Middle School B Boys: The team dominated this division with multiple strong finishes. Gavin Morris led the way in 3rd place (26:42.06), followed by Wyatt McReynolds in 4th (27:10.97). Cooper Thompson (9th), Mason Harper (13th), Miles Chesnut (21st), Darvin Harger (35th), Hunter Criswell (38th), and Max Manning (42nd) all contributed to the team’s impressive depth.

Middle School C Boys: Dax Powell secured 5th place (33:10.87) and Brady Fleming finished 6th (33:54.89), showcasing the program’s development of younger talent.

Middle School Girls: Chloe Sharp earned 7th place in Middle School A Girls (50:13.39), while Jayclynn Fox placed 10th in Middle School B Girls (36:39.15).

JV Girls Excellence

Amelia Miller delivered the day’s most impressive Marshall County performance, winning the JV2 Girls division with a commanding time of 52:40.64, earning 500 points and demonstrating the strength of the program’s female athletes.

Program Depth on Display

The race results highlight the remarkable depth of Marshall County High School’s mountain biking program, with 26 riders competing across nine different divisions. From 5th-grade newcomers to varsity veterans, Marshall County athletes consistently placed in the top half of their respective fields.

“These results reflect the hard work and dedication our riders have put in this season,” the strong showing across all age groups demonstrates the program’s commitment to developing cyclists at every level.

The team will look to build on these strong performances as the season continues, with several riders positioned well for potential state-level competition based on their point totals and finishing positions.
