(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) — Three Kentucky employers received the state’s highest honor Tuesday for exceptional support of National Guard and Reserve employees.
Norton Healthcare (Louisville), Housman, Garatt, and Duncan PLLC (Paducah), and the Federal Correctional Institution (Manchester) were awarded Pro Patria Awards during a ceremony at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. The Kentucky Committee for Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presents these prestigious awards to employers who go beyond legal requirements in supporting military service members.
Norton Healthcare won in the large company category, the Paducah law firm in the small company division, and the Manchester facility in the public sector category. All nominees were put forward by their own Guard and Reserve employees.
“These employers should be especially proud to be nominated by their employees who are also in the Guard,” said Mike Richie, Kentucky ESGR chair. Major General Hal Lamberton delivered the keynote address.
The awards highlight how civilian employers contribute to national defense by enabling employees to balance professional duties with military service commitments. Marshall County resident, Captain Michael Mann of the 138th Field Artillery Brigade praised his law firm’s support, noting they continue his compensation and benefits during deployments and maintain contact with his family.
“With eight employees, the firm sets the standard for very small employers to strive for,” Mann said.
