(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) – The Marshall County Lady Marshals secured the district championship Thursday night with a thrilling 6-3 victory over McCracken County in what proved to be a high-scoring affair at home.
The victory not only gives Marshall County the outright district title but also punches their ticket to the KHSAA Region One Girls Tournament.
The game featured plenty of back-and-forth action early on, with both teams trading leads throughout the opening stages. However, the Lady Marshals eventually seized control and pulled away from the visiting Lady Mustangs to claim the decisive win.
Offensive Stars Lead the Way
Senior Addi Wall powered Marshall County’s attack with a hat trick, finding the back of the net three times while also contributing two assists for a five-point performance.
Lauren Noles, another senior leader, added two goals and four assists to finish with six points on the night. Senior Chaney Green contributed one goal and two assists, while Rylee Teague rounded out the scoring with one goal.
The balanced offensive attack proved too much for McCracken County to handle as the Lady Marshals combined for 18 total points in the victory.
Solid Goalkeeping Performance
Between the posts, senior goalkeeper Savannah Dodd anchored the Marshall County defense with eight saves while allowing three goals. Her steady presence helped the Lady Marshals maintain their lead once they established control of the match.
With the district championship now secured, Marshall County (10-1-1) will have a week to prepare for a three game road trip, starting next Thursday in Clarksville, Tennessee and ending with two games in Louisville.
