(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.)-The Marshall County Marshals’ hopes for a district championship were dashed in dramatic fashion Thursday evening, as McCracken County found the back of the net in the dying moments of regulation to secure a 2-1 victory in Draffenville.
The crushing defeat not only denied the Marshals a chance at the district crown but also handed the McCracken County Mustangs the regular season district championship along with an automatic qualification for next month’s KHSAA Region One Tournament.
Despite the setback, the Marshals (6-5) must quickly regroup as they face a challenging weekend ahead. The team travels to Louisville on Saturday for a demanding doubleheader against both Ballard and Trinity, leaving little time to dwell on what might have been.
