Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Reports Multiple Arrests in Drug-Related Cases

(EDDYVILLE, Ky)-The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office released details of several arrests made over the past week, with multiple incidents involving drug possession and outstanding warrants.

Drug Arrest Following Suspicious Vehicle Investigation

On Sunday, August 31, Sheriff Brent White arrested a Princeton woman after observing a suspicious vehicle in Kuttawa. While patrolling around 3 p.m., Sheriff White spotted a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta that had previously been reported as suspicious in the area.

After following the vehicle to the end of Old Kuttawa Road, White made contact with the driver, identified as Amanda D. Hammons, 42, of Princeton. During the encounter, deputies discovered Hammons was in possession of marijuana. A subsequent vehicle search revealed methamphetamine, additional marijuana, pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Hammons also had two outstanding warrants for her arrest. She was charged with possession of marijuana, first-degree possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia possession, second-degree possession of controlled substance, contempt of court from Hopkins County, and failure to appear on a Shelby County bench warrant. She was booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Vehicle Inspection Leads to Drug Charge

On Wednesday, September 3, Hannah L. Knight, 25, of Eddyville, came to the Sheriff’s Office at 2:15 p.m. to have her vehicle inspected. During the routine inspection, a deputy detected a strong marijuana odor and observed numerous marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle. Chief Deputy Sam Adams charged Knight with possession of marijuana.

Warrant Services and Court-Related Arrests

The Sheriff’s Office served multiple bench warrants throughout the week:

Thursday, September 4: Chief Deputy Sam Adams served a Lyon District Court bench warrant on Justice M. Cordova, 31, of Salem, around 12:45 p.m. The warrant was for failure to appear in a DUI-related case. Cordova remains in custody at the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Friday, September 5: Two separate warrant services occurred. Chief Deputy Adams served a Lyon District Court bench warrant on Jennifer Duff, 46, of Marion, around 8:45 a.m. for failing to appear in court regarding a traffic citation. Duff was also served with a criminal summons from Crittenden District Court for theft by deception. She later posted cash bond and was released.

Later that evening, Deputy Shannon Oliver served a Lyon Circuit Court bench warrant on James Martin, 35, formerly of Kuttawa, just before 9:30 p.m. Martin was charged with probation violation related to a felony offense. He had been extradited from New Hampshire back to Kentucky for his original conviction of first-degree wanton endangerment. Martin was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Theft Investigation Results in Charges

On Friday afternoon around 2 p.m., the assistant manager of a business on KY 293 reported suspicious activity involving a vehicle driving around the property and parking behind a building. Chief Deputy Adams investigated the incident and identified the driver as Emily Tucker, 52, of Princeton.

The investigation revealed that Tucker had visited the property twice previously when it was closed and had stolen scrap metal, which she later sold. Tucker was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and theft by unlawful taking valued between $500 and $1,000.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
