(CADIZ, Ky.) – The Marshall County Marshals secured a crucial road victory Friday night, defeating the Trigg County Wildcats 28-27 in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final minutes.

The game lived up to its billing as a classic defensive struggle turned offensive showcase, with both teams trading scores throughout the contest. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Marshals managed to punch the ball into the end zone with just minutes remaining on the clock, setting up what would prove to be the game-winning drive.

“It was a real see-saw affair, but we were resilient and got a big win here” said Marshals Head Coach Nick Bloodworth of the contest that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

The victory improves Marshall County’s record to 2-1 on the young season, while Trigg County drops to 1-2 following the heartbreaking one-point loss.

The Marshals have been putting up impressive offensive numbers through their first three games, averaging nearly 33 points per contest. However, their defense has allowed 28 points per game.

Marshall County will look to build on this momentum as they travel to face Murray High next Friday night. The Marshals are scheduled to take on the Tigers at Ty Holland Field with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
