Hazel Man Arrested After Disturbance Involving Axe Damage

(HAZEL, Ky.) – A 31-year-old Hazel man was arrested early Thursday morning following a disturbance that escalated into property damage and alleged theft.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Killdeer Trail in Hazel at approximately 4:00 a.m. on September 5, 2025, after receiving reports of a disturbance.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident began as a physical altercation between two males. Following the fight, Jose Trinidad Estrada allegedly took an axe and caused damage to the front door of the residence, a vehicle on the property, and other items.

Deputies also discovered that Estrada was in possession of a large sum of money that allegedly belonged to another individual.

No medical attention was required for anyone involved in the altercation, according to authorities.

Estrada was arrested and booked into the Calloway County Detention Facility. He faces three charges:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking $1,000-$10,000 (Class D felony)
  • Criminal Mischief 1st Degree (Class D felony)
  • Assault 4th Degree
