William Francis McGee passed from this life on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Southgate Care Home in Metropolis, Illinois, at the age of 80. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 27, 1944. Bill was a former teacher in the Livingston County School System. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Murray State University and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Kentucky. He began the practice of law with his father-in-law, Raymond Dycus. He practiced law in Livingston County for many years.
Bill served in the Vietnam War in an Infantry Recon Platoon with the United States Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart Medals. Bill was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion, and was past President of the Smithland Lions Club. Served as past Master of the Smithland Masonic Lodge and Treasurer. Bill was a member of the Smithland First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He served on the Board of Directors of the Salem Bank and served as Attorney for the Livingston County Hospital and the Livingston County School Board.
Bill was married to Vickie Dycus McGee on December 17, 1966, in Smithland, Kentucky, residing and raising their family in Smithland, until moving to Paducah upon retirement.
Bill is survived by his wife, Vicki; his sons, Billy (Angie) McGee, Dykie (Laura) McGee; three grandchildren, Emily McGee, Will McGee, and Anna Grace McGee; step-grandson, Cameron Bryan, and several Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Toy and Frances McGee, and his grandson, James Luke McGee.
Bill was interred with military honors at the Smithland Cemetery on Thursday, August 28, 2025, followed by a private family graveside service.
