(AURORA, Ky.)  — Authorities have uncovered human remains beneath a residence connected to a missing person case from June, according to local officials.

The discovery was made Monday afternoon at a property located near the intersection of US Highway 68 and Aurora Highway, in close proximity to local businesses including a convenience store and restaurant.

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht verified that human remains were retrieved from the Aurora-area location but declined details, citing the active nature of the investigation.

The Marshall County Coroner’s Office has taken possession of the remains, which are scheduled for autopsy examination on Tuesday. Coroner Kenny Pratt indicated that authorities are pending results from DNA analysis and additional forensic testing before making any definitive identification.

The property is situated near several local establishments along the busy highway corridor. Officials have not released information regarding the identity of the deceased or provided specifics about a potential connection to the June missing person report.

The investigation remains ongoing, with no timeline provided for when additional information might be made available to the public.
