Edford “Ed” Williams, 70, of Dexter, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Murray Calloway County Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ed was born on September 30, 1954, in Muhlenburg County, Kentucky, to the late Alex Williams and Velma Keith Jarvis. Ed was an Army National Guard Veteran and took pride in his service, but also in his strength and durability in being able to keep up with all the younger recruits. He retired as a Corrections Officer from the Kentucky State Penitentiary, where the thud of his boots coming and respect for his no-nonsense demeanor earned him the nickname “Boots”.
Ed was a fan of anything John Wayne and a collector of knives and Indian artifacts. He loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, and enjoyed tending his garden and flower beds. Most important to him was his family and the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Williams of Dexter; one daughter, Belinda Mohnen (Jessie) of Dexter; three sons, Billy Kemble of Dexter, Isaac Williams (Alicia) of Draffenville, Kentucky, and Earl Williams (Jesica) of Dexter; three sisters, Paula Jarvis, Sarah Grigsby, and Regina Rolley; three brothers, Paul Jarvis (Angela), Thomas Joe Jarvis (Carol), and W.C. Williams; thirteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ola-Jean Williams and Rila Dukes; two brothers, Arlis “Buddy” Williams and Norman Williams; and his parents, Alex Williams and Velma Keith Jarvis.
