14-Year Old Arrested in Connection with War Memorial Shooting

(MAYFIELD, Ky.) — Law enforcement officials have arrested a 14-year-old from Fulton County in connection with a shooting that occurred during the Graves County vs. Mayfield High School football game Friday evening at War Memorial Stadium in Mayfield.

The incident took place during the fourth quarter of the “Battle of the Birds” matchup when the juvenile allegedly opened fire, striking 18-year-old Jordan Riley of Farmington. Riley sustained severe injuries to his arm and upper torso from the gunshot wound and was transported by medical helicopter to an out-of-state medical facility, where he remains in stable condition.

According to investigators, the shooting followed a physical confrontation involving Riley and another minor. During this altercation, the 14-year-old suspect allegedly drew and fired his weapon.

The teenage shooter now faces first-degree assault charges and is being held at a juvenile detention facility. The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist the Mayfield Police Department, including Kentucky State Police, Graves County Sheriff’s Office, Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton Police Department, Mayfield EMS, and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
